The Roots!

Root is the part of the plant that usually grows below the ground.

There are two main types of roots-taproot and fibrous roots.

Taproot The taproot is the main root that grows into the soil from the base of the stem.

Eg : radish, carrot, sunflower, and mango

Fibrous root Fibrous roots are a bunch of thin and bushy roots that grow together into the soil from the base of the stem.

Eg : wheat, rice, and grass

Functions of roots :

1. They hold plant firmly.

2. They absorb nutrients and water that are required by the plant.

So the root basically acts like the mouth of the plant.

It absorbs the water and nutrients and give it energy.

There are 2 types of roots.

Taproot and Fibrous roots.
